Teach Yourself Classics has its mission in its name: be a digital place where learners of all levels can find tools to help them, well, teach themselves Classics.

Welcome to the heart and soul of this project: reviews, handouts, resources, and more.

What You'll Find Under Reviews

The “Reviews” page holds a growing collection of reviews of third party resources, mostly websites that can be used to learn about antiquity.

Reviews are tagged for easy browsing, with groups for culture, topic, and appropriate student level.

What You'll Find Under Cursus

The Cursus Honorum (Course of Honors) is the hierarchy of positions in the Roman government through which a rising politician would generally progress.

Students of antiquity need their own ‘course,’ to make sure they cover all the basics before going onto more advanced topics.

In this section, I’ve provided syllabi, topic guides, however you’d like to think about them. Basically, a list of recommended texts (both primary and secondary) to understand a given topic in Classics.

Much like my syllabi, they will also include course summaries and goals, so you can know when it’s appropriate for you.

What You'll Find Under Free Resources

This is a hub of both first party (that is, mine and hosted here) and third party (that is, someone else’s and linking off site) handouts, resources, games, textbooks, and more that you can use to reach your educational goals.

Perhaps one day, it will be fancy, but for now, I’m focused on getting everything launched for you.

Enjoy!
